Techniques:
These techniques are geared to the Writing section of standardized testing. Too often students are in a hurry, especially when it comes to writing. In a stressful environment, students can often forget what was taught and move into a belief that more words on the paper is better than quality. Encourage students to plan out not only the writing sections, but put a time limit on each as well. Make sure to plan for enough time for editing/revisions, many students get consumed in the essay or question and forget about the clock. If you finish a section of the test, don’t waste extra time, go back and re-check questions. All standardized tests given are know of well in advance, prepare your students throughout the year rather than trying to fit it all in a month before the test.
